Togo ECTN Certificate
Pursuant to the regulations published by the Togo Ministry of Economy, an ECTN Certificate is mandatory for cargo arriving in Togo by sea.
ECTN stands for Electronic Cargo Tracking Note, and in French it is referred to as Bordereau Électronique de Suivi des Cargaisons.
A Togo ECTN Certificate must be obtained for each Bill of Lading. A unique certificate number is assigned to every Bill of Lading, and multiple certificates cannot be issued for the same Bill of Lading. This requirement applies regardless of whether the shipment is LCL (Less than Container Load) or FCL (Full Container Load).
Required Documents
- Bill of Lading
- Commercial Invoice
- Customs Declaration
Processing Time and Application Procedure
The certificate issuance process takes approximately 3 business days. Simply send the required documents to us in PDF format. There are no additional procedures or costs such as filling out forms or paying form fees.
Once your documents are received, a draft certificate is prepared and sent to the applicant by email. After any requested amendments are made and the draft is approved by you, the certificate enters the approval process, followed by invoicing and payment procedures. Once the relevant authority approves the application, the certificate is delivered digitally via email.
To apply, simply send your documents by email.

Important Notes and Common Reasons for Rejection
- Consistency across all submitted documents is extremely important.
- Approval may be denied if the Shipper and Consignee information differs between documents.
- Approval may be denied if there are discrepancies between the cargo value, freight charges, and other cost items.
- Approval may be denied if there are inconsistencies in product descriptions, container numbers, gross weight, volume, or other shipment details.
If approval is not granted, the system will issue a notification indicating the reason for rejection and the required corrective action. Each correction notice may result in an additional fee, which is the responsibility of the applicant. Based on the notification, we will request the necessary amendments from you and resubmit the certificate for approval together with the revised documents.
There is no charge during the draft preparation stage of the Togo ECTN Certificate process. However, once the application enters the approval stage, the cargo levy payable to the relevant authority is paid in advance by Nesay Shipping & Logistics. Therefore, the portion corresponding to the cargo levy is non-refundable. Please take this into consideration when submitting your application.
If amendments are required after the certificate has been approved, changes can be made subject to payment of an update fee.
